Pearson Edexcel A Level Further Maths (9FM0), Paper by Paper
Harry currently offers UK A Level Further Maths tuition for Core Pure Mathematics 1 and Core Pure Mathematics 2 only. He does not currently offer tuition for the optional Further Pure, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, or Decision Mathematics papers.
The qualification is linear and consists of four externally examined papers, all taken in the same May/June examination series.

Core Pure Mathematics is compulsory for all students.

The available papers are Further Pure Mathematics 1 and 2, Further Statistics 1 and 2, Further Mechanics 1 and 2, and Decision Mathematics 1 and 2.
There are restrictions on which two optional papers can be combined, so students should confirm their exact option pair when enquiring about tuition.
Each optional paper is 1 hour 30 minutes, worth 75 marks, and contributes 25% of the qualification.
Working Towards an A*
Pearson Edexcel A Level Further Mathematics is a linear qualification, with the final grade determined by performance across all four examination papers.
Harry’s tuition focuses specifically on the two compulsory Core Pure Mathematics papers, which together contribute 50% of the qualification.
For students already working at A or A* level, tuition can focus on demanding Core Pure content, unfamiliar multi-stage problems, mathematical proof and reasoning, efficient solution methods, and the accuracy needed to perform consistently on these papers.
Because Core Pure builds heavily on A Level Mathematics, Harry can also identify underlying gaps in algebra, calculus, vectors, or other prerequisite skills that may be affecting a student’s Further Maths performance.
